TOUR DESCRIPTION

Expedition tour with visits to remote places of the Katunsky Range. You will visit the protected corners of Altai, on the border of the Katunsky Natural Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Fabulous winter taiga, protected Taimen Lake, adventures and exciting emotions from a snowmobile ride through hard-to-reach and remote corners of Altai, where in the summer you can only get by helicopter.

TOUR PROGRAM

Day 1. Welcome to Altai

• Gorno-Altaisk - Ust-Koksa.
• Arrival at Gorno-Altaisk airport. Meeting at the airport. Moving to the village Ust-Koksa by minibus (about 390 km). The road passes along the famous Chuysky tract among the rocky ridges of the Altai Mountains, then along the Kansk steppe to the Uimon valley. Arrival in the village of Ust-Koksa, accommodation at the Argut Hotel in double rooms. Safety briefing.
• Meals: lunch and dinner.

Day 2. Transfer to Lake Taimenye on snowmobiles

• Taimenye is the largest lake in the upper reaches of the Katun, located at an altitude of 1570 m on the southern slope of the western part of the Katunsky ridge, 100-150 km from populated areas. Overnight in warm winter houses. Bathhouse. A long trip on snowmobiles, depending on the weather, can take from 5 hours or more; if the weather is bad, the road to the lake can take 2 days. Bathhouse.
• Meals: three times a day. Overnight in a hunting hut.

Day 3. Rest day on Lake Taimenye. Fishing. Bath

• (Reserve day in case of bad weather).

Day 4. Return to Ust-Koksa by snowmobile. Accommodation at the Argut hotel.

• Meals: three times a day. Overnight in a hunting hut.

Day 5. Bashtalinsky plateau and excursion to the village of Verkhniy Uimon

• Before breakfast, morning departure on snowmobiles to the Bashtalinsky plateau on the slopes of the Terektinsky ridge to watch the sunrise with a view of Mount Belukha.
• The Terektinsky ridge is the western continuation of the northern chain of Central Altai. It is along the Terektinsky ridge that the border of the Ust-Koksinsky and Ongudaysky regions of the Altai Republic passes. In good weather, you can see the highest point of Altai - Mount Belukha. This is an untouched corner of nature, containing many beautiful places with pristine nature.
• After breakfast, an excursion to the village of Verkhniy Uimon. Here we will visit the Museum of the History of the Uimon Valley, or in other words, the Museum of the Old Believers. The creator of the museum, Raisa Pavlovna Kuchuganova, has been collecting material for her stories and books for more than forty years.
• Meals: three times a day.

Day 6. Transfer Ust-Koksa – Gorno-Altaisk

• Transfer from Ust-Koksa to Gorno-Altaisk by minibus (about 390 km). Hotel accommodation in Gorno-Altaisk (category 4*).
• Meals: three times a day.

Day 7. Farewell to Altai

• Early transfer to the airport. Flight to Moscow.
• Meals: breakfast.

ACCOMMODATION

• Hotel "Argut" in double rooms.
• Overnight in a hunting hut.
• Hotel in Gorno-Altaisk (category 4*)

ADDITIONALLY

The route passes near the state border of the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan. You are required to have a valid Russian passport (not a foreign passport) with you at all times. For foreign citizens, border passes are required. Documents must be provided no later than 30 days.

It is necessary to take a sleeping bag with you for spending the night in a hunting hut. Upon request we can provide a sleeping bag for rent.

Seating for one person on a snowmobile or with an instructor. If you operate a snowmobile yourself, above-average skills are required. To operate a snowmobile yourself, you must also have an appropriate driver's license.

NOT recommended for children. People at least 18 years old are allowed to participate.
